PhD Programme in Biology - Jagiellonian University in Krakow Poland 1 funded PhD position Looking for a PhD? Are you interested in speciation, evolutionary genetics or amphibian/reptile biology? The aim of the PhD project will be an assessment of mitonuclear co-adaptation in hybridizing amphibian/reptile species in the team of Maciej Pabijan at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. The successful candidate will be involved in labwork and bioinformatics using targeted sequencing approaches (target enrichment, molecular inversion probes) based on gene models from transcriptome/genomic data. Genes involved in mitonuclear interactions and a panel of control genes will be sequenced in replicated transects across hybrid zones in the species complexes. Possibility of field work for some species. The PhD programme in Biology at the Jagiellonian University is run entirely in English and it includes some obligatory and facultative classes. The programme is open to all nationalities and there are no tuition fees.
