Position Overview: The Pipes Lab (https://pipes-lab.pbrc.hawaii.edu) at the Pacific Biosciences Research Center (PBRC) at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa is seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student to join our team. The successful candidate will be accepted through the Department of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. This position will focus on developing computational and statistical methods to analyze large-scale sequencing data, aiming to uncover evolutionary patterns in environmental and public health studies, including microbial evolution in wastewater surveillance and microbial ecology. Program Details: The student will be enrolled in the PhD program in the ICS Department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. The application deadline to start in the 2025 fall semester is January 15, 2025. Funding: The position is fully funded through a Research Assistantship, including a stipend at a competitive rate and tuition coverage for the duration of the Ph.D. program. Additional funding opportunities may be available through departmental Teaching Assistantships. Minimum Qualifications Required (by the time of start date): - Bachelor's or Master???s degree.
