Yours sincerely Sylvain Charlat. ## Bioinformatics engineer position for mass genomic data processing (M/F) ## #General information WHAT: Bioinformatics engineer position for mass genomic data processing (M/F) WHERE: Lyon, FRANCE WHEN: from September 2024 to June 2025 Contract duration: 10 months Public URL of the offer: /Offres/CDD/UMR5558-NATARB-073/Default.aspx Working hours: Full time Salary: between euro 2,372 and euro 2,497 gross per month depending on experience #Missions This recruitment is part of the HORIZON project (https://anr.fr/Projet-ANR-17-CE02-0021), which aims to study horizontal transfers between parasitoid insects and their hosts, using comparative genomics approaches. The person recruited will help to set up bioinformatics pipelines and apply them to several hundred insect genomes. In particular, they will be based on homology search tools between numerous distant genomes. The challenge of the project is to scale up. #Activities - Contributing to the implementation and optimisation of pipelines in Snakemake - Running these pipelines on a large mass of data, on the computing clusters of the Biometry and Evolutionary Biology Laboratory . #Skills The position requires good programming experience in the context of bioinformatics. Collaborative assignments require good communication skills, teamwork and conceptual clarity. Knowledge of the Python and R ecosystems is required, as is knowledge of the Snakemake tool, and more generally of tools dedicated to genomics and the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data. An enthusiasm for learning new skills is preferable. English level B2 #Work context The Biometry and Evolutionary Biology Laboratory is a joint research unit of the CNRS, Lyon 1 University and Vetagro Sup. The laboratory's teams are divided into four scientific departments focusing on evolution, ecology and health. The person recruited will work under the responsibility of Sylvain Charlat; he/she will join the Genetics & Evolution of Interactions team and, more specifically, a group of 4 people working on the Horizon research project.
