Ulm University is recruiting a Professor of Ecosystem Resilience to join
the Institue of Evolutionary Ecology and Conservation Genomics.
The research of the Institute
(Head: Prof. Sommer) is located at the interface of evolutionary ecology,
genetics and functional biodiversity research and aims to understand the
processes that drive and constrain adaptive evolution to maintain the
health of wildlife and ecosystems. To strengthen these goals, a person
with outstanding scientific qualifications and international visibility
in the research area of ecosystem resilience (with a zoological focus)
is sought. The candidate should taxonomically record species abundance
patterns in the context of land use or climate changes and investigate
the complex relationships between biodiversity and the environment
through modeling and simulations at different spatial and temporal
scales. The professorship is expected to play an integrating role
within the research focus "Stress and Resilience of Biological Systems
",
and be open to collaborations on the thematic foci
(www.uni-ulm.de/forschung) of the Department of Biology, and the Faculties
of Natural Sciences and Medicine.
In teaching, the professorship will be involved in the Bachelor's and
Master's degree programs in Biology, particularly in the areas of zoology,
animal biodiversity and bioinformatics. Teaching is conducted in German
and English. Participation in the academic self-administration of the
faculty is required.
Employment requirements are completed university studies as well as
teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific
achievements (§ 47 LHG).
