Link: https://apply.interfolio.com/156181 The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology (E3B) at Columbia University invites applications for a position at the rank of Associate Research Scientist to contribute to research on the ecological and evolutionary drivers of landscape evolution. The successful candidate will join the lab of Dr. Deren Eaton (https://eaton-lab.org) to support ongoing and new research initiatives to develop computational models and tools for measuring and visualizing patterns of migration and gene-flow from community and population genetic data. The position will focus on the history of plant diversity in the Hengduan Mountains Region Biodiversity hotspot, through analyses of both community structure and population genetic structure. The work will involve contributing to new collections, as well as analyzing existing genomic and community datasets. A primary objective will involve developing a new software tool to implement a novel statistical model. The position is highly collaborative, including a network of international collaborators working in community ecology, systematics, geology, and genomics. The models and tools developed from this work will enhance our understanding of processes driving diversification in biodiversity hotspots, and inform perspectives on conservation planning. Qualifications The position requires a Ph.D. in ecology, evolution, computational biology, or a related field. A track record of research excellence is essential, as are excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in statistical or ecological modeling and Python programming are highly desirable. Application Instructions All applications must be made through Columbia University's Academic Search and Recruiting (ASR) system. https://apply.interfolio.com/156181 Applicants should submit a cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, and contact information for three reference providers who may be asked to upload letters of recommendation at a later stage in the search.
