Job Summary A postdoctoral research associate is available at the?Lotterhos?Lab at Northeastern University. The postdoc will be based at Northeastern University's Marine Science Center and will work closely with PI Kathleen?Lotterhos. NUMSC a strong research presence in evolution and ecology research and there are many opportunities for interaction and collaboration both there and in the greater Boston area.? Key Responsibilities The Postdoc will work on a collaborative NSF-funded project that is studying the interplay of phenotypic plasticity, seasonal adaptation, and local adaptation in species responses to climate change. The Postdoc's main role in the project will be to develop models, theory, and simulations that give new insight into evolutionary processes. The Postdoc will collaborate?with?Lotterhos?and with investigators at the University of Vermont and University of Kentucky, who will be conducting complementary field surveys and experiments on an invasive fruit fly. The Postdoc will also be expected to lead and participate in outreach projects. There will be opportunities for the Postdoc to participate in data collection and develop apps for data collection. Qualifications Must have a Ph.D.; be able to undertake substantially full-time research or scholarship; work under the supervision of a senior scholar. Applicants will be expected to develop and lead projects. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of population genetics and evolutionary theory.? Candidates should have a strong track record of publication; have demonstrated an ability in modelling and simulation; be able to manage and analyze large datasets; have experience parameterizing models with data; have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills; and be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.? Experience modelling with the software SLiM is desirable but not required. The initial appointment is for 12 months with the opportunity to extend the position for up to 36 months.
