Volume 636 Issue 8043, 19 December 2024

One year. Ten stories.

As the clock runs down on 2024, we look back on the past 12 months through the lens of Nature’s 10 — ten people who helped to shape science during the year. This year, the cover takes its inspiration from the Sun, which provided ample opportunity for spectacle and study. The year’s solar eclipse was enhanced for many because it coincided with a period of increased solar activity, which allowed features such as the corona to be discerned more easily.
