Funded PhD Position in the Aylward Lab at Virginia Tech. Blacksburg, VA, USA. The Aylward lab at Virginia Tech has an opening for a PhD student interested in studying the ecology, evolution, and genomics of giant viruses that infect unicellular eukaryotes. The lab uses comparative genomic, metagenomic, and experimental approaches to address questions regarding viral diversity and virus-host interactions. Current systems examined in the lab include a variety of viruses that infect green algae and amoeba. Students will be able to work on existing research projects and develop their own. More information on the lab can be found at aylwardlab.biol.vt.edu Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in field related to biology. for microbial and viral evolution and genomics For inquiries contact faylward@vt.edu.
